Ranch Cookies

I thought I would share with you my most favorite cookie recipe. This is my grandma's Ranch Cookie recipe that comes from our family recipe book. I love to make these in the summer for our guests as an after lunch dessert. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Ranch Cookies


1/2 Cup Shortening
1/2 Cup Butter
2 Cups Brown Sugar
2 Cups Apple Sauce
2 Eggs beaten
3 1/2 Cups Flour
2 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Baking Powder
2 tsp Cinnamon
1 tsp Salt
2 Cups rolled oats
1 12 oz. package Chocolate Chips
2 Cups nuts (optional)

Cream first five ingredients. Sift together dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Add chips, oats and nuts. Drop by tablespoons onto greased baking sheet. Bake 12-15 minutes at 375 degrees.
