Fiddle Camps

Join us at the ranch for a unique opportunity to tune up both your fiddle and horsemanship skills, at our Fiddler on the Hoof, fiddle camp.

Enjoy four days of musical instruction by four experienced instructors. Classes will be offered for fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and stand up bass.

Lodging will include guest rooms in the lodge, log cabins, and tents on the ranch lawn. Â Campers will enjoy three hearty ranch meals per day served buffet style in the lodge.

The knowledgeable wranglers of the Western Pleasure Guest ranch will teach horsemanship skills. The week will conclude with horse drawn wagon rides, dinner and a concert. The date of this camp is Aug. 3 - Aug. 7, 2008 and the cost is $410.00 plus tax.

6:00 PM - Dinner - BBQ Chicken and Ribs with all the fixens - Adults $16.50

Gary Schuh

Gary Schuh began playing the violin in his school orchestra at age nine. After two years, he became interested in fiddle music and started taking lessons from Jaydean Ludiker.

Since then, Gary has garnered many state, regional, and national titles.  Gary currently performs with various groups around the country. He was the fiddler for the Riders of the Rockin‚ B Ranch for three years prior to becoming a teacher, and has been an instructor at the Ludiker Fiddle Camp multiple years.

Gary attended college at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA. He is now a 6th grade teacher in Troutdale, OR (near Portland), at Walt Morey Middle School. Gary‚s interests include travel, skiing, and music performa
nce.

 

Isaac Callender

Isaac Callender started playing the violin at age three. At age seven due to sibling rivalry he switched to fiddle music and began competing in fiddle contests throughout the US. By age 18 Isaac had won numerous state and regional titles as well as playing and touring with local and national bands. Isaac attended Western Montana College and Eastern Oregon University where he performed with the EOU Fiddle Ensemble and Blue Pass on fiddle, guitar, and mandolin. His 2002 CD project with fellow student Jesse Jones received national acclaim as runner up for Roots Album of the Year. In 2004 Isaac's bluegrass band Blue Pass was featured on Garrison Keilor's "A Prairie Home Companion". Isaac went on to perform with Trace County touring for the USO in the winter of 2005. He also spent 2 years performing with the 133rd Army Band out of Camp Murray Washington. Isaac recently finished two years of touring as guitarist with the April Verch Band touring throughout North America. Isaac currently performs with his band Blue Pass and works as a luthier in Livingston, MT.

 

Tyson Jones

Growing up in the northwest Tyson Jones has taken advantage of many opportunities to further his knowledge of music. Starting with Kelly Schuh and learning from Texas fiddle greats Tony Ludiker, Terry Ludiker, Gary Schuh and more. Tyson has been exposed to a wide range of playing styles which has influenced and shaped his musical style. Tyson has been playing and performing since the age of nine when he started in his school’s orchestra program in Newman Lake, Washington.
Tyson has performed with many bands including Barry Lee White, The South Austin Jug Band, and The Riders of the Rockin’ B Ranch. He has recorded with Dennis Ludiker, Noah Jefferies, and Harold Streeter. Tyson has also won many awards such as Washington State, Washington Open, and Northwest Regional Fiddle champion. Tyson has placed as high as third at the National Fiddle Contest in Weiser, Idaho.
Today Tyson teaches privately in Pullman, Washington while finishing a degree in Music Business (expected May 2006) from Washington State University.

Beth Weber

Beth Weber is a graduate of the University of Washington in the field of education. She began playing violin at the age of eight and has been teaching fiddle and Suzuki violin for over 20 years. She is the founder of The Sandpoint Violin Academy and founder and director of the North Idaho Junior Fiddlers.

Eight books of her arrangements of traditional fiddle music from around the world have been published by Erda Music Books and are available through Shar, and Southwest Strings catalogs as well as on Amazon.com.

Beth enjoys competing in fiddle contests and regularly wins or places in the top 5 in her division. In addition to having fun teaching fiddle, Beth is an outdoor enthusiast and finds inspiration in nature. She lives with her her husband Mark McCormick, in the beautiful mountains of Cocolalla, Idaho.
